“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”3 John 2 (KJV)
God cares about your health
John wrote, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2). Much of Jesus' ministry was healing. Health isn't separate from faith; it's part of God's will for us.
Your body is a temple
Paul reminds us: “know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost… therefore glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). Caring for our bodies is an act of worship. Our health affects our minds, our relationships and our ability to serve others.
The original diet
In Eden, God gave a plant-based diet: “I have given you every herb bearing seed… and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat” (Genesis 1:29). Today, research continues to highlight the benefits of whole, plant-based foods. BC's farms and orchards make this an easy place to enjoy them.
Temperance and simple remedies
The Bible warns against what harms us. Wine is called “a mocker” (Proverbs 20:1), and self-control is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:23). Through prayer and God's strength, freedom from harmful habits is possible. Add fresh air, sunshine, water, exercise, rest and trust in God, and you have a time-tested recipe for wellbeing.
Simple and modest living
The Bible also encourages simplicity and modesty in dress and lifestyle (1 Timothy 2:9–10; 1 Peter 3:3–4), focusing on inner beauty, “the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit.” This study is practical and encouraging, never judgmental. It's about thriving, not rules.
